Physiotherapy Solutions South is a sessionally based “roving”clinic providing premium physiotherapy services at several locations in the Huon and Channel region of Tasmania, south of Hobart
Andrew Hutton established Sports Point in Ballina, NSW in 1994 and after 15 years has relocated to the south of Tasmania for family reasons.
Andrew is an APA Titled Sports Physiotherapist. He has practiced traditional acupuncture and dry needling in a physiotherapy environment since 1994 and has been one of Australia’s leading educators of physiotherapists in these fields for many years.
As in his previous practice he continues to work with an emphasis on apro-active, client based approach to treatment where patient education and participation are complemented by accurate diagnostic skills, excellent hands on technique, and exercise prescription. Clients are offered advice regarding postural, biomechanical and technique improvements, activity or sporting techniques and lifestyle factors which may assist in addressing their needs.
Sports Physiotherapy-because life is a sport
The sports physiotherapy approach is perfect for anyone regardless of age or activity. Sports physiotherapists utilise a process of solving pain problems by working out dysfunctions and imbalances in the “body machine” which result in some structures in the body becoming pain sensitive. They also have an initmate knowledge of the mechaical requirements of sports and activities of daily living. Many of the treatment techniques and approaches currently used in the wider physiotherapy profession evolved from the sports physiotherapy area of the profession . As such, sports physiotherapists are at the forefront of knowledgeand development in physiotherapy, and are exceptionally well equipped to deal with your pain problem.
Complimentary Therapies:
Treatment may incorprate either the dry needling or acupuncture paradigm of treatment. In the case of traditional, constitutional acupuncture, following an initial course of treatment many clients continue with a monthly treatment until the body has completed its change or to assist in maintaining a balanced state.
Acupuncture
Sports Point has offered acupuncture (the use of needles in an oriental paradigm) for many years. Acupuncture compliments joint and soft tissue mobilisation and helps promote tissue repair and neurological adaptation. There continues to be a growing interest in the traditional acupuncture from clients with a range of issues, from women seeking help with the symptoms of menopause to chronic headache ,poor sleep and immune system deficiency.
Dry Needling
In response to patient demand over last 2-3 years, there has been growing interest in the Australian physiotherapy community in ‘dry needling’ (the use of needles in a western physiologically based paradigm). Physiotherapists have come to recognise the advantages skilful use of needling has in complementing manual techniques, not the least of these being a reduction in post treatment soreness experienced by the patient.
Some of the effects of needling are:the stimulation of structural change in the collagen matrix, alteration in the neural activity in the peripheral and central nerous systems and local tissue changes such as improved circulation, inflammation regulation and stimulation of tissue repair.
